What is the ADHD Parent Support Programme?
At Private ADHD, we understand that receiving an ADHD diagnosis for your child can be both a relief and a challenge. Many parents feel overwhelmed and unsure of how best to support their child’s needs. That’s why we offer a trauma-informed, specialist mental health service, to deliver a 6-week Parent Support Programme designed specifically for families navigating a recent ADHD diagnosis.
This structured programme offers a blend of expert psychoeducation and practical therapeutic strategies to help parents build stronger, more connected relationships with their neurodivergent children. Developed by experienced mental health clinicians, the course integrates evidence-based approaches including reflective parenting, PACE parenting, mentalisation, and the Window of Tolerance model.

FAQs
A few of our frequently asked questions about the ADHD Support Programme
Who is this programme for?
This programme is designed for parents and carers of children aged 5–12 who have recently received a diagnosis of ADHD. It’s ideal for families seeking practical tools and therapeutic insights to better support their child.
Do I need a formal ADHD diagnosis for my child to join?
No. While the course is tailored for families navigating a recent diagnosis, it is also suitable for parents who suspect their child may have ADHD or are on a diagnostic pathway.
Is this programme suitable for parents of teenagers?
This programme is primarily focused on the developmental needs of children aged 5–12. We are developing future content for teens – feel free to register your interest if that’s relevant to you.
Can both parents/carers attend?
Yes, absolutely. We encourage both parents or carers to attend together where possible, as shared learning helps build consistency and connection at home.
How is the course delivered?
The programme is available via live online sessions or in-person at select locations. Sessions are interactive and run weekly for 90 minutes over six weeks.
What if I can’t attend all six sessions?
We understand that life is busy. If you miss a session, you’ll receive a summary handout and optional follow-up support. However, we recommend attending all sessions to get the full benefit.
Is the course based on medical treatment or therapy?
This is a psychoeducational and therapeutic support programme, not a medical or diagnostic service. It complements clinical care by helping parents build emotional and behavioural understanding of ADHD.
Do you offer 1:1 support as well?
Yes, optional one-to-one follow-up sessions with a clinician are available for personalised guidance. These can be booked separately after the course begins.
Will I get access to materials and resources?
Yes. Each participant receives a resource pack with session summaries, tools, and recommended reading to support learning at home.
