Your ADHD Patient Journey
At Private ADHD, we believe in delivering a clear, compassionate, and efficient journey from first contact to long-term ADHD support. Our process is designed to ensure rapid access to expert care, accurate diagnosis, and personalised treatment – whether you're seeking an online ADHD assessment or in-clinic services.

Our founder pursued medicine after frustrations with ADHD care that he had witnessed first hand. His simple mission statement is to be at the forefront of solving the ADHD crisis in the UK. This has been his life long goal and mission. With this empowering outlook, PrivateADHD was formed to support and encourage others with ADHD to thrive.
Along with the other members of our team, his journey led to him becoming an NHS-recognised ADHD Psychiatrist.

Step 1: Getting Started – Registration and Initial Screening
Your ADHD journey with Private ADHD begins with a simple booking process. You can either book your private ADHD assessment directly online or contact our dedicated team, who will guide you through your options and help you choose the most suitable appointment type — whether that’s a video consultation or an in-person assessment at one of our UK clinics.
We offer flexible appointment options, including both online ADHD assessments and face-to-face consultations at our UK clinics. You’ll receive a clear explanation of what to expect at every stage, with guidance from our friendly admin team.
If you're unsure whether your symptoms may indicate ADHD, we offer a free ADHD screening test to help you decide. This short, evidence-based questionnaire explores common ADHD symptoms such as inattentiveness, impulsivity, hyperactivity, and difficulty concentrating. Based on your results, our clinical team will advise whether a full diagnostic assessment is recommended.

Step 2: Pre-Assessment Preparation
Once your assessment is scheduled, you’ll be sent a pre-assessment pack to complete. This includes detailed medical history forms, lifestyle and sleep questionnaires, and a review of any current or past mental health conditions. You'll also be asked to provide basic health data such as blood pressure, weight, and height.
We may also recommend patients to complete an optional QbCheck – a clinically approved, computer-based test that provides objective data on attention, activity, and impulsivity. This test can be completed either remotely or in our clinic, and its results are used to support a robust and evidence-based ADHD diagnosis.

Step 3: Diagnostic Consultation with a Specialist
Your full ADHD assessment will be conducted by a UK-registered clinician with specialist training in adult or child ADHD. During this structured consultation, the clinician will use internationally recognised diagnostic tools (e.g., DIVA-5 or ACE+) alongside the pre-assessment data and QbCheck results to build a comprehensive picture of your symptoms and history.
The consultation typically lasts 60–90 minutes and concludes with either a confirmed ADHD diagnosis or a detailed explanation of why criteria have not been met. In either case, you’ll receive a written report and recommendations for the next steps.

Step 4: Tailored Treatment Options
Following diagnosis, you will be offered a range of private ADHD treatment packages suited to your needs. These include:
- Medication management: Initiation and titration of stimulant or non-stimulant ADHD medication.
- Psychological therapies: Access to CBT, coaching, and counselling.
- Combined care: Blending medication and non-pharmacological interventions.
ADHD medication affects key neurotransmitters dopamine and noradrenaline in the brain to help with attention and concentration.
Although not a permanent cure for someone with ADHD, this ADHD medication can help with symptoms such as feeling calmer and helping the individual to feel more focused.
Step 5: Medication Initiation and Titration
If medication is part of your plan, your clinician will start with a carefully monitored titration process. This involves adjusting the dosage over time to maximise benefits while minimising side effects. You’ll receive regular check-ins (typically every 2–3 weeks), either via video call or secure phone call, to monitor your response.
During this period, you will also have access to email support and emergency guidance if needed. Your progress is documented, and any issues can be quickly addressed.
Step 6: Confirming Stability and Monitoring Progress
Once a stable and effective medication regime has been found, you’ll undergo a repeat symptom questionnaire to objectively measure improvements. This allows your clinician to confirm that treatment is having the desired effect and that you’re functioning well in daily life.
Stability isn’t just about symptom control – it’s about improvements in self-esteem, relationships, productivity, and mental wellbeing. We assess all these areas before moving to long-term care planning.
Step 7: Shared Care with Your GP
At this stage, we offer to establish a Shared Care Agreement with your NHS GP. This allows your prescription to be issued and managed through your GP, with our team continuing to oversee your clinical review and support needs. We handle all necessary communication with your GP and provide supporting documents to simplify the transition.
Not all GPs participate in shared care agreements, but our team will advise you on your options and continue private prescribing if required.

Step 8: Ongoing Support and Annual Reviews
ADHD is a lifelong condition, and treatment doesn’t end after diagnosis or initial therapy. At Private ADHD, we provide ongoing support through annual reviews, repeat prescriptions, QbCheck monitoring, and access to our team of ADHD-trained professionals.
We also offer non-clinical support such as:
- ADHD-specific coaching
- Family and relationship support
- Educational and workplace accommodations
Our holistic model ensures that every aspect of your wellbeing is supported.
Getting treatment for ADHD quickly is important to help with any adverse effects of this mental health disorder on studies or work, which is why we are proud to offer quick and thorough ADHD assessments online with our specialised ADHD psychiatrist doctors.
We offer appointments for ADHD titration too (treatment dosage) and autism appointments.
If you are wondering if you have ADHD, please use our free symptom checker. Research the ‘ ASRS symptoms checker’ and insert statics about the sensitivity and specificity of the symptom checker test.
